If not, is there any other way of controlling the population other than collecting eggs?

  1. Hi,

Yes, but it can cost quite a bit of money. Go to or call an avian vet.

Go to this link to find out how to locate an avian vet in your area:

  2. I guess its possible need to talk to your vet and see what he/she says or maybe a type food will do the trick like raccoons for rabies they put food out for these guys keeps them from getting the rabies.

  3. Yes they can, but it's expensive.

  4. go to www.backyardchickens.com and search for an answer there. I know you can turn a rooster into a capon (basically neutering it) but I don't know if you can do the same to a drake or not.

  5. For that answer you need to call a avian vet. I am sure that they can do it. A vet charged my aunt a few hundred to spay a female parakeet. She was just feeding it to rich of a diet. They can if you can find the right kind of vet. There are not many of them around. I would like to have some peafowl but I can't find a vet that will cut the voice box for me. There are vets that will perform the operation, just not around me.
