Can pet rats stay home alone for a couple of days?

I have two homes, and I want to get a pair of rats. I thought it would be too stressful for them and too difficult for me to bring them back and forth all the time, so can they stay home alone for the weekend with occasional check-ups from another family member?

  1. leaving your pet rats at one home over the weekend is totally fine when i was working at the pet store they were always left alone over the weekend with a check up once a day. just make sure that they have a secure cage and plenty of water to drink and food but make it a maintenance food not a really rich food. because they wont be played with as often.

  2. if you are leaving your pet rats give them enough food for both of them and ask a very close friend of relative to take care of them.

  3. As long as you have someone to make sure they're fine, they should be good. They'll have their cagemate to play with and as long as they have enough food, water, and a clean cage, i wouldn't worry.

  4. yeah they should be fine as long as they are feed and have a clean enough cage they should be able to be alone

  5. Yes if someone can check up on them to insure they have plenty of food and water. Make sure the rats get along really well though. I'd try leaving them on their own when you're around first just to be sure.
