Can players make money playing on line poker?

I've played hold em for more than 3 decades and have played in the WSOP and have done OK. Can a person make a living with good, solid play or is it like other forms of risk-taking, unbeatable over the long haul?

It is possible to make money playing online poker, but I am not sure you can make a living from Online Poker.

There are a lot of sites out there, and the play is much different online from B&M clubs and casinos.

I have also been playing Holdem for decades, however these days I play only tournament NL Holdem and I play at local casinos quite a bit.

The biggest problem with online poker is regulation. There have been cheating scandals like the ones at Absolute and Ultimate Bet, sites that just go under owing their players lots of money, and then the issues of cash deposits and withdrawals for USA players.

I am also convinced that a lot more collusion goes on than is caught, one of the reasons I just do not play small SNG tournies or ring games online anymore.

So, can you make a living at it? I suspect not, at least I do not think I could, and I do win a lot of money online playing poker.

As for beatability, well, you are not playing against the house, you are playing against other players. So there is the ability to win money when you sit at a tourney, provided the site is honest, there is no cheating, the site is solvent, and you have a reliable method to withdraw.
