Would people need to take louder, so you could hear them clearly?

  1. yes if it is loud enough, i have screwed my ears over with my car stereo but its much much louder than a stock setup but even so be careful

  2. yes, it can, its called Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) - this is hearing loss due to exposure to either a sudden, loud noise or exposure to loud noises for a period of time. A dangerous sound is anything that is 85 dB (sound pressure level - SPL) or higher.

    Decibel Exposure Time Guidelines

Accepted standards for recommended permissible exposure time for continuous time weighted average noise, according to NIOSH and CDC, 2002. For every 3 dBs over 85dB, the permissible exposure time before possible damage can occur is cut in half.

    Continuous dB

    Permissible Exposure Time

    85 db

    8 hours

    88 dB

    4 hours

    91 db

    2 hours

    94 db

    100 db

    15 minutes

    103 db

    7.5 minutes

    106 dB

    3.75 min (< 4min)

    109 dB

    1.875 min (< 2min)

    112 dB

    .9375 min (~1 min)

    115 dB

    .46875 min (~30 sec)

check out this site it has tons of info.

  3. You better believe that it will.

My friend is suffering from severe hearing loss and he's only 45.  He used to listen to loud music (mostly in his car) all his life.

    OUCH !!!

    Good Luck...

  4. One of my Bachelors degrees is in Audiology.  You can definitely suffer from hearing loss at certain frequencies due to noise-induced trauma (loud car radio in this case). Yes, you would have to talk louder to this person, but it may not help make it clearer if certain frequencies are gone.  Also using earphones for MP3 players and having device turned up to loudly can cause the same type of damage.  Sometimes you don't realize it is even turned up too loudly.  Please be careful out there! (by the way normal conversation is around 65 decibels so it doesn't take much louder to cause a hearing loss.  An airplane engine is about 105 dB. if you were standing outside on the tarmac listening to the engines.  So the progression of volume goes up geometrically.)

  5. yes....if it is loud enough

  6. Yep, the more hearing you lose the more you'll turn it up and the more you'll damage your ears.

  7. does tap water cause cancer?????

their are a lot of things in life that are not the best for us but we continue to use them so everybody just pick your own poison.
