  1. It sounds like that teacher needs to get a new job.

  2. You cant flunk preschool! Its not mandatory to even go!

  3. I dont think preschoolers are graded as such but im sure if the teacher thought a child wasnt ready to go to the next grade he/she would strongly suggest to the parent that the child repeat preschool so he/she would be better prepared for the next grade. If a child cannot grasp the concepts he/she will not want to learn. At that age i dont think it would matter too much as long as the child improved his /her performance during the 2nd year of preschool.

  4. it's all subjective

  5. If your preschooler brother is not developmentally ready enough to enter the next classroom (threes to fours, for example), then yes, she can say he stays with threes another year until he is ready.

If you're applying to a private kindergarten, then her recommendation will hold a lot of weight.  If  your brother is going to a public school, all they care about is age.

I would caution you (and your parents) to take what she has to say seriously.  Usually parents don't want to waste more money on daycare when kindergarten is free and think that teachers are being cruel when they actually have a lot of information on the children they spend up to twelve hours a day with.

  6. I think the preschool teacher is prejudging and possibly not helping him. How can a child under the age of 6 fail at anything? They're children. Its very wrong to even label a child as a failure - in anything - at any age. Not doing well is fine, but failure? Please. What are the teachers credentials? Makes no sense.

  7. if they cant grasp the colors and numbers...

  8. you cant really flunk... its more like the teacher thinks youre not ready to go to regular school i think. like if you dont interact well or cant talk or tell colors or somethihng.

  9. That's awful! The only thing I can think of is if he isn't up to par he might not be able to start kindergarten with his peers but why would they say it that way!! Find him a new preschool they obviously care very little for his self esteem.

  10. No. Preschool is not a graded year.  It is measured in milestones that are recorded about their development; but no. they do not fail.  Everyone starts school at the same age. At what developmental level, is what determines which program according to your school boards curriculum.  If your little brother is way behind. Seek medical developmental testing now, before entering school.

  11. just  help him make up fun & creavtive games for him to study  and have fun so he can learn while hes having fun

  12. for me, flunking is the result of not studying or partying before an exam. constant review of lessons is a solution to that problem. that is, if you're not mentally handicapped.. and these applies only to young adults.

for preschoolers, flunking is the result of not-so-good teachers.

  13. I have had my daughter in 3 different preschools for different reason, I worked in one of them, and one thing I can say for sure is that there are some pretty nutty teachers/workers with these kids.
