  1. Legally, yes, school officials can go through a student's personal things, but they should only do so if they suspect something dangerous - weapons or drugs.  Not if they just want to know if he was making fun of someone.

  2. Kids shouldn't be allowed to have cell phones at school.  Needless distraction.

  3. It depends really. Did you read your student manual? Did you sign anything?

Because in my previous highschool, the school was authorized to check personal belongings if necessary.

But according to the situation. I think the Dean did his job by stopping cyber bullying.

  4. yes

  5. Yes he can. I assume that he asked for the phone and your friend handed it to him- thats fair game! Same for the police- if they show up at your house and say can we look inside, they do not need a search warrant if you let them in!

  6. Yes as he had good reason do believe he would find something which would cause hurt or distress to another student

  7. Probably.  Check the student handbook.  Normally, if there's cause, they can.

  8. nope

  9. technically he can. the teachers in my school gave us a whole speech of how when were at school they act as our legal guardians and they can therefore rummage through our stuff. thats why they can search your locker for drugs and stuff. good luck!!! hope this helped

  10. Yes & No......'cause it is yours but then again if it's breaking the rules or even the law then definatley YES. As long as they have a VERY good reason why they are doing it.

  11. Nope he really cant do that something like that. That happened to someone at my school and there mom got mad. He can really only go through lockers, and backpacks

  12. if he subtly asks permission like, "Can I see your phone?" and you hand it over to him, he can. otherwise, you don't waive your 4th Amendments rights just because you are a student or an employee.

  13. yes, especially if you are not allowed to have cell phones at school/in class to begin with

  14. Nope. Invasion of privacy

  15. at times he could but for petty reasons but he could not do that for fun n all
