We live in a street of terraced houses and have a taxi business operating from next door with 5 vehicles. Is this legal? Are they permitted to take up all the parking spaces in the immediate area? It means that everyone else find it very difficult to park and I have walking and other health issues which makes life difficult when I can't park anywhere near to my home.

  1. I suggest that you contact the local council planning department, and ask to speak to the enforcement officer. Explain that a local property is being used as business premises without having obtained the necessary planning consents.

Contact the local rates department and point out that since the property is being used as business premises, then the owner should be paying business rates.

Finally, contact Her Majesty`s Revenue and Customs and tell them that you suspect the owner of the business has not registered the business for tax purposes, nor is he submitting

the appropriate tax returns, and is avoiding paying the necessary taxes.

  2. You need to call local authorities and ask them. My town's ordinance says maximum of 6 cars per residence and all 6 must each have a licensed driver. They only enforce it on problem people, I have 5 cars and only 2 drivers and haven't been bothered. There may be local laws about businesses and their parking lot just so they don't overload neighboring or public parking.

  3. In most states no if they are blocking or hindering traffic this could be seen as a danger.

You need to contact your local police department and check with them.
