Can ps3 play ps2 games?

i heard a ps3 40gb can play ps2 games but u have to download this thing first is it true. apparently this thing that you download costs about $10 by credit card

the 40gb ps3 has a diffrent graphics card and cant play ps2 games appranetly they took out the emotion chip to make the console cheaper , the 80gb version plays ps2 games using an emulator....the 20gb and 60gb plays ps2 games like its on ps2 console.

that is NOT true.  the 40GB CANNOT play PS2 games.  there is NO download for that.

No the 40gb ps3 doesnt have the emotion engine so its impossible to play ps2 games but u can play ps1 games tho.The 80gb 60gb and 20gb ps3s can play play ps2 games tho.
