Can psychic powers be obtained through yoga and meditation?

i am not any psychic but have a strong will to acquire these powers can yoga and meditation help me in any way?

  1. yes. the way of a shaman or the ability to communicate with spirits can entail practises such as meditation and yoga. the ability to singularly focus is necessary.  concentrate on breathing techniques and inward silence. observe a conscientious diet including water and real food.  when prepping for a session abstain from fermented or mold based foods. ie tamari, vinegar, pickles, blue cheese....  fasting and other abstinences can also assist in preparation.  finally to open the barriers between our everyday thinking mind and the universal mind, our intention must be genuine sincere and honest.  continue your practise and some day if you need to or are called to fullfill this wish of yours you will be ready and fear should not then overcome.  peace.


  2. One does not so much obtain psychic powers as access and develop them. Probably everyone is potentially capable of such things, though some people are naturally more adept at them. IMO, this is much the same as some people being better at sports, music, languages or mathematics. A few people are natural talents, but anyone who wants to be good at something can practice it to get better.

    Yes, yoga and meditation can help. Yoga is supposed to help people get in touch with divine energies. Meditation teaches you to remove distracting thoughts and focus your mind.

    I haven't practiced meditation as much as I should, but I noticed one time when I was meditating and focusing on my chakras, I felt a tingling at my 3rd eye chakra and then a sort of shift in my awareness, sort of like a switch being turned. Then I was able to do some subtle energy work that I'd been wanting to practice. I've found that when I meditate first, it's more likely to work for me.

    Other times when I meditate, I'll get interesting visions or clairaudience.

    Our minds are capable of many things, but we have to learn to shift out of our normal scattered thoughts and focus our minds to do these things.

  7. There are no such thing as psychic powers, they're just one of the many figures of man's creativity at its best.

    With meditation and yoga you may achieve flexibility and good health sorry to say, you won't be able to bend spoons with your mind or anything nor will you be able to read what people are thinking.  The best you will get is to control your emotions.

  10. yes look into indian "hindu" meditation the old vedic writings say alot about this the bhagavad gita is one you have to read it with an open mind

    Yoga and meditation are two methods that can be used to help you to recognize the difference between your mind and body.  Yoga, and its twisting forms, is often used by ascetiics to help train their minds to ignore physical pain and achieve a meditative state even while their body is being stressed.  Many Yogis believe that independence from the physical world will help them to gain an enlightened perspective that will lead to truth and a clear path for their lives.  Meditation can be used in the same way.

    There are ancient Hindu texts which describe individuals who have developed unusual abilities due to an enlightened state of mind.  In other words, Yoga or meditation are used to achieve enlightenment, and through enlightenment, you may gain new abilities.

    Another way to develop "psychic skills" is to try to practice them directly.  There are specific techniques that are necessary for healers, clairvoyants, empaths, etc.  But, most of these techniques require a strong, disciplined mind, with a great ability to focus the attention and percieve the world.  To develop a disciplined mind, you must find a method.  A common method is practicing Yoga or meditation.

    So, no, Yoga and meditation will not give you psychic powers, but those practices can give you the building blocks that may be needed to develop your mind and spirit in the future.  Good luck!

  13. You can have a strong will to transform into a jet fighter, but it won't make it any more likely for this to happen.

    Yoga and meditation may give you the ability to bend your body into strange shapes, breathe smoothly, and empty your head of thoughts, but they cannot give you abilities which violate the laws of physics.  Such abilities do not exist.

  14. there is an absolute state you could reach called kundalini....few yoghins actually get to that state and it;s believed to be just theory...

  15. Yeah I have to agree that it's access more than obtain. I too believe that we all have it, but that some of us are more predisposed to developing them, just the way some have a natural ability in computers or mathematics, or science.

    But yeah, meditation is an excellent to go about it. It helps you learn to quiet the "chatter" of the mind and to focus your mind. It also teaches you to listen and to better visualize.
