Can putting a timed air freshener too close to a smoke detector make it go off ?

Its about 6ft. below it and my smoke detector has gone off a couple of times for no apparent reason

  1. I don't believe that can happen. To check for sure unplug the air freshener and see if false alarms still occur.


  2. Absolutely.  Smoke detectors are sensitive to various vapors.  move the smell farther away!
