  1. No.

    Look at Brandon's explanation.

  2. Gravity sucks you down. Quicksand just holds you there.

  3. Mythbusters did some experiments a while back and if I remember correctly, I don't think they were very successful in getting any quicksand to actually suck anyone down... People getting stuck in quicksand is largely the result of them moving and fidgeting and actually burying themselves deeper rather than the quicksand "pulling" people down.

  4. Quicksand is more dense than water.  Therefore it's actually easier to float in quicksand than it is in water.

But if you get up to your waist in it, it is very heavy and difficult to get out of.  If no-one was around, you might die of starvation, dehydration or exposure.

  5. Yes, indeed, quicksand can suck you down all the way until you're totally submerged into it. This will mean certain death without help. The only way not to, is to not panic and stay calm, without moving more than you absolutely need to.

If you can find anything to hold on (branch, root, etc.) in order to pull yourself out slowly, you'll be definitly able to do it. Just DO NOT PANIC and DO NOT move like crazy. This will help the consistency of the quicksand to suck you down before you can get help, if any.
