Can "Compressed zipped folder" files give me viruses?

I just downloaded some fonts and when I was savin them the "save as" type was called Compressed zipped folder, instead of like ".gif (for images)" or .txt....... Will I be getting viruses?

  1. Just right click on the zip files and scan them with your anti-virus before you open them.


  2. Most downloadable fonts come in .zip files. Viruses can be contained in these but as long as you download them from big reputable websites like 1001freefonts, you should be ok.

    In the .zip file there should be the font and a .txt file. If something causes suspicion, just delete it and scan your computer, but it should be ok.
