"Lament for seville" (1267, translated)

<<Everything declines after reaching perfection, therefore let no man be beguiled by the sweetness of a pleasant life.>>

first line of "lament for seville".

Why is Deming (quality guru) not followed more ?

"Though this be madness, yet there is method in't" Shakespeare, Hamlet.

  1. if you mean like in the sense of enlightenment, then i'm not quiet sure, since it takes a long time and practice to reach that stage. It becomes a way of living.

But i do believe that things could decline after reaching perfection, especially in the sense of material things and accomplishments. No matter how much you succeed and build you empire, everything is can go down the spiral.

Look at it in history, the Roman empire was the greatest of all.

    The Egyptian Pharaohs.

    The Greeks and so forth.

  2. In the worldly sense: Yes because to maintain the perfection it requires constant effort and any laxity can cause it to decline. Now where does the guru fit in?In the spiritual sense, when you become enlightened, it is perfection of the Self or Realisation of the Self.Once you realise, you realise it and thats it.There can be nothing further than that. The guru can only lead you there and once there it is always there.

  3. there are two kinds of perfection, first is 'earthly' perfection (more precise "maximum condition", there is nothing perfect on this earth), it may have many peaks but only one is the highest.

second one is "real perfect", in relation with ressurection ( the return of all people to life at the end of the world----> in Christian's belief), this kind of perfect is constant.
