Solanine is the poison in green potato skins, same as the deadly nightshade. This is poison for people and (I believe) for rabbbits. If they are otherwise safe, that would explain the different results atested to above.

My Rabbits Looove banana chips and raisins and dried fruits, but do not feed them potatoes or almonds. Too much starch and almonds are not good for them neither , but I forgot why . =D
hello - I hope I'm not too late, I'm not sure when you posted here!
The best thing to do if you're unsure is to NOT feed it. That goes for anything - better to be safe than sorry, right?
Potato's are actually really bad for rabbits. Now there ARE rabbits who eat it, because they're fed it - but that's like feeding a child cheeseburgers and chocolate everyday. My Mum used to have a rabbit as a kid called Bun, who lived in the garden. My Mum wasn't rabbit savvy, he was "just a pet", and was fed whatever scraps Mum had, she never brought rabbit feed for him or hay. Just grass, and veggie scraps, and somehow he survived untill he was 9 years old. BUT, do not think you an get away with it! Rabbits are much more delicate than people thing, and have a complicated and delicate digestive system.
This is a list of safe foods for rabbits. You should give at least three kinds of vegetables each day in order to obtain the necessary nutrients, with one each day that contains Vitamin A, (with a *). Really it's best to add one veggie to the diet at a time so you can see how the bunny reacts - stop feeding that veggie if it causes soft stools or diarrhea.
Alfalfa, radish & clover sprouts Baby bok choy Basil Beet greens (tops)* Bok choy Broccoli (mostly leaves/stems)* Brussels sprouts Carrot & carrot tops* Celery Chinese celery Cilantro Clover Collard greens* Dandelion greens and flowers (no pesticides)* Dwarf choy sum Endive* Green peppers Kale (!)* Mint (the leaf, obviously. Don't be silly and give your rabbit polos or gum haha!) Mustard greens* Parsley* Pea pods (the flat edible kind: snow pea or sugar snap pea)* Peppermint leaves Raddichio Radish tops Raspberry leaves Romaine lettuce (no iceberg or light colored leaf)* Spinach (!)* Watercress* Wheat grass Yu choy (!)=Use sparingly. High in either oxalates or goitrogens and may be toxic in accumulated quantities over a period of time
Remember to ensure your bunny has a constant supply of fresh hay and water. Also you can feed unlimited grass, so long as no pesticides have been used, it's not been used by dogs, and not taken from fumey road sides.
Hope this is of some help! And please, to those othr commenters who says it's fine and that they give potato's a lot because your bunny "loves" them, DON'T RISK IT! kids love chocolate right?! If it's provided, they'll eat it, whether it's good for them or not. Rabbits also cannot vomit, so if they eat something that they can't digest, all sorts of potentialy lethal problems can occur. Consult a rabbit savy vet if you need more answers!
