Can receivers wear single digit numbers?

cuz im watching the browns-giants game and ken dorsey threw the ball for a TD 2 some guy wearing number 9

  2. No, they are not allowed to wear numbers in the single digits.  This is only allowed in practice and pre-season.

    most recievers will have a number from 80-89

  5. Before final cuts, teams can have a whole bunch of recievers on the team, and they start to run out of numbers, so sometimes they will assign receivers single digit numbers.

    I've always found that a good trick to determine whether a guy is going to make the team is this; if he's low enough on the roster to only be given single digits, he's not gonna make the team.  Works most of the time.

  6. Since 2004,Wide receivers are also allowed to wear numbers between 10 and 19 if they so choose, even if there's an 80-89 number available.
