Question:

Can region 2 dvds work in America?

I bought almost all my dvds in England on holiday and I just found out that they might not work when I go back to America. Is that true and if it is, is there a way that they will still work because I threw away all the reciepts and if they don't work that would be tragic. What kind of dvd player do I need and do you know about how much it might cost? Thanks and all answers are welcome.

  1. America is region 1 and most players will not play other regions, Shinco portable DVD players are region free and have 2 leads one for here and a 2 pin for america.  You can get them for about £80.00.  Just look for DVD players that are region free.

  2. The uk /Europe/Ireland is Region 2, and America/ canada is Region 1 , if you are moving to America none of your uk dvd's will work if its a region 2 player as you suggest, i have a Panasonic which is Multi-region [ it plays all regions] . Please mail me and i will help you turn your dvd player into a 1-6 player and it won't cost nothing but time, tell me make of player and model number and i'll mail you back what to do from a to z .

  3. Yeh they will work but only if you have a dvd player that plays them. If you need one then they are a bit more expensive than ordinary dvd players.
