Question:

Can regular acoustics have on-board tuners?

I found a guitar I like, but it has an on-board tuner. Does this mean it's an acoustic-electric guitar. Or could it just be a regular acoustic with an on-board tuner included?

Thanks... sorry if this is a silly question. I'm still new to guitar.

  1. If the tuner is battery powered it could be a regular acoustic. Best bet is to take the model number and google it. Good Luck.

  2. i dont think so. cuz it might disrupt the natural sound coming from the body

  3. Chances are it is an acoustic/electric. The acoustics I've seen that have on-board tuners(for example: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-AEL20... or http://www.guitarsandmore.com/?sec=produ... were acoustic/electrics. I doubt it is a regular acoustic with just a tuner.

An "acoustic-electric" guitar is merely an acoustic guitar (sometimes with a slimmer body) that has a pick-up and a jack that can be used to plug the guitar into an external source (such as an amplifier or PA).

    Hope this helps.
