Can revolution for dogs be used on a large cat (18.8 lbs)?Vet wants to dbl the cat dose,seems wrong.?

Originally, he suggested Frontline but changed to Revolution. The cat is a little over 18 lbs and in good health. Doubling the 15 lb dose seems like too much.

You want to be extremely careful with flea products on a cat, as many cats have a reaction, you want to watch them carefully after you apply them. You also want to stay away from Pro Meris.

Never use dog medications on a cat. The weight of the animal has nothing to do with it. Cats are an entirely different being than dogs and are also much more sensitive to toxins.

Actually the cat and dog product are the same...only the amount applied is different and the cat dose in mgs is higher than that of the dog.  It's really safe and it wouldn't bother me to double it, but you don't have to use two 15 lb doses....rather use a 15 lb. dose and a 5 lb. dose which they sell for cats.  Or you can use the 10.1-20 lb dog size.   Here is  direct link to dosing from the manufacturer.

according to the manufacturer of revolution, any cat over the weight of 15 pounds does in fact get a double dose.

NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! there are chemicals that cats can not tolerate, dont do it follow your vets advise they are the professionals,

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES use dog flea products on cats!  The products are formulated differently and the DOG products WILL KILL your cat!

Each year, more cats are killed by people thinking they can use dog products on their cats!  

READ THE LABEL for the PRECAUTIONS.........The dog products will SAY....DO NOT USE ON CATS!

Call a different vet, and get a 2nd opinion on your vet's advice about doubling the dosage.  It doesn't sound right to me, either.  

GET A 2ND OPINION...........before doing anything.
