  1. You mean the drug Ritalin? Yes. Obviously it can.

  2. Apparently it does.

  3. I don't think they have proven that Ritalin slows learning. The only criticism I have heard is that it may work as a gateway drug.

If you abused the drug or took too much or  had too high of a dosage prescribed, it may have caused issues that are showing now.

    EDIT: Actually.. I'm not sure...

"Until recently physicians believed that Ritalin side effects remained as short-term. Scientists at the University at Buffalo found otherwise. Research with gene expression in animals suggests that Ritalin has the potential for causing long-lasting changes in brain cell structure and function. Methylphenidate (Ritalin) appears to initiate changes in brain function that remain long after the therapeutic Ritalin effects dissipate.

While research now indicates adverse long-term Ritalin side effects physically, other studies show that Ritalin use does not make an impact on behavior in the long run. A comprehensive follow-up study at Montreal Children's Hospital revealed that the behavior of hyperactive children did not differ significantly from the behavior of non-hyperactive children after taking ADHD medication for five years."

  4. Be very careful about behavior-altering drugs.

One of the side effects of Ritalin is sever depression.

Also realize that ADHD is pop medical science. Normal people don't like being cooped up all day in a desk and then cooped up in a house. We're supposed to be running and walking and standing for hours.

Because some children don't respond well to this...they're labeled as having a problem.

I would not take Ritalin. Start exercising, sleep normal hours, and learn to concentrate through effort, rather than chemicals.

I think it'll make you a much better and much happier person.

  5. It is a drug, much like speed.  I read an article where a guy was trying to find legal prescription meds he could supplement for street drugs and he said that rittalin was the closest thing he could get to street cocaine.  What it does to the brain I dont know and Im not qualified to answer medically.  However, I would be surprised to hear that it has no long term effects on the brain.
