Question:

Can rugby be played mainly on the east coast?

I live on the west coast in CA and im only 12 and i wanna play rugby... all my friends said i can only play rugby on the east coast and they also said i had to wait for high school or something, but then im gonna have to wait until my dad gets stationed somewhere and i want to learn the basics, what rugby actually is etc etc..

If you are referring to Rugby Union, then other answers have answered these.  If you are asking about Rugby League, I think you may be correct.  I do not live in the states, but from their web site on Rugby League, it appears the only teams they have is on the east coast.  You can see a list of the teams here.

  2. theres rugby throughout the country....i play high school rugby and i live in oklahoma...we play local teams and teams out of state, then we also go out for tournaments and invitationals...rugby isnt js on the east coast..its getting bigger in the us and starting to spread!

  4. I was under the impression that rugby was biggest in California.  I've had college teammates that transferred out there (CA) to play more competitively.

    It is more and more prevalent in any state every year, especially in youth.  I'm not so sure that there are many opportunities anywhere in the US for under 15 years.

    If there aren't any opportunities for you for a couple years, I suggest playing football to learn running and tackling skills.  Just don't get too used to blocking!
