Since my sophomore year in high school, I have run almost everyday. Now, three years later, my body has changed dramatically. I switch up running outside or at the gym and usually run about forty minutes. On the treadmill I do intervals every few minutes, running sprints to jogging. I also lift weights on the weight machines usually only about once a week because any more than that makes me start to get bulky. Anyway, I was just reading about people saying you need a day off to help your muscles and I was wondering if this was true. I'm happier with my body than I have been in a long time, I'm pretty toned but I still could lose maybe ten pounds and be more fit. As much as I work out and eat pretty healthy (I'm a vegetarian but I make sure to eat enough protein) it seems like I should be in better shape. SO, I apologize for the life story but I was wondering if it would be good to start taking one day off a week, and how it will help me. Thanks and sorry so long :)

  1. I've never heard it do that.

    But I suggest this.

Running one day and then doing another sort of exercise the next day.

And then going back to running again.

I usually don't run two days in a row, but I have never heard of it doing that.

In my opinnion no it wouldn't.

As long as you run just as far, and sweat just as much, you should lose weight every time. Remember to shower after running. You will lose more weight because sometimes your sweat can go back into your skin, causing you to not lose as much.

    Hope this helps:]

  2. yeah you should take a day off. olympic athletes take a day off. its highly recommended.

also i will lift weights really hard one day, the rest the next and it helps your muscles get stronger so on the third day im ready to lift again and i can do more.

recover days are when your muscles are actually building.

seriouslly though its not smart to do 7 days a week, and also if you rest one day you can work harder on different days

  3. Yes I think you should definitely give your body at least a day off from working out.

  4. no i dont think  so cause my sister ran track ever seen she was in 8 grade grade and she fine

  5. yes you really should. i always take one day off a week or instead i cross train. i usually swim or bike. your body probably just needs a break.
