A sunset.

A person is moved by the setting sun and it is touched by it's beauty. Or is awed by nature while hiking in the woods.

Science tells us why the sun is "Setting". And that a part of your brain triggers this feeling....

My question is, can science truly explain why we are moved by this "Beauty" like they can try explaining the meaning of life?

  1. If you were to study the brain, the chemicals in the body, and the human conscious & unconscious, yes, you could probably find answers to all those questions. It sounds more like a psychology question..

  2. The chemicals which activate different moods are a result of the metabolic and electrical stimulus processes that are innate in the biology unique to the brains of human beings.

However, the concepts of consciousness and abstract thought are still shrouded by the veil of scientific unknowns.  This conundrum results from the lack of methodologies and processes to measure and observe at the level required to discern fact from metaphor.

Eventually, we may crack that code which delineates the process of consciousness.  Meanwhile, we can choose to sit back and enjoy that glorious sunset.
