  1. The expression semi-vegetarian is a logical contradiction.

A "semi-vegetarian" (if there was such a thing) would be an omnivore  and is pointless. If you acctually care, go vegetarian.

By definition, there are no half hearted veggies. The whole idea of not eating meat, if it's because of the cruelty involved, is to completely refuse to eat the retched stuff.

If you are an omnivore, eat whatever you want, whey, rennet, whatever man.

  2. semi-vegetarians?   No such thing.  If you eat both plant matter and animal matter..you are an omnivore.  Just because a meat eater eats broccoli or peas with his steak does not make him a semi-vegetarian.   Vegetarians eat no animal flesh..ever.  We don't consume gelatin or animal rennet either.

  3. There is no such thing as a semi-veg.  Sorry...You're either vegetarian or non-vegetarian.  There is no gray area in between.

  4. You can call yourself a "flexitarian" which means you eat a vegetarian diet most of time, but I think it's a cop out.  It's like "plus sized" instead of "fat."

    Flexitarian= guilty omnivore.

Do what your conscience says is right.  Go veg!

  5. I would not discourage you from eating that if it helps you stay even somewhat vegetarian. Animals can use all the help they can get.

    Congratulations for trying!

  6. whats the f' is a semi vegetarian. you eat animals or you don't! - Its like saying I am semi pregnant!

  7. Yes, I believe those things are included in the "semi" part of the word.

  8. What the h**l is a "semivegetarian"? I think the word you're looking for is "omnivore". Or perhaps "cheater".

When I was a vegetarian (as opposed to vegan), I didn't eat anything that an animal had to die to give. So gelatin, which comes from animal tissue, was off limits. So was rennet, which comes from calves' stomachs, but unfortunately it took me a while to learn about it. Whey comes from dairy, so I believe it's vegetarian but not vegan.

  9. There is no such thing as a semi-vegetarian.  Vegetarians don't eat dead animals, period.  Anyone who does eat dead animals is not a vegetarian, regardless of the type or amount.  So, anyone who wants to eat gelatin or rennet can do so, but it's not vegetarian.  Whey, on the other hand, is a milk byproduct rather than a slaughter byproduct, so would be acceptable to any lacto-ovo- or lacto-vegetarian.

  10. the word semivegetatian was always funny to me. like, somedays its ok to kill animals, some days we are sad about it? Semi=half, or some of the time. How much is too much??

Im not trying to be mean. i am just wondering.its ok to cut back on your meat dont get me wrong, but dont say that you are semivegetarian, because that just sounds silly.

i  agree with the guy above me. your heart needs to be in it 1000%.

  11. Obviously it depends on the person. For some people they may just be learning about vegetarianism. Honestly if a person is trying to transition from an omnivore then it is always good to look for alternatives to all the other foods he or she is used to. Some vegetarians use milk products or even egg products. To answer your question it depends on what kind of semiveggie you are and what you eat and how you want to change.

  12. Well doesn't whey come from milk? Vegetarians can have milk...

  13. There's no such thing as a semi-vegetarian. Sorry :( If you eat any meat, poultry, fish, or seafood you are not a vegetarian. You are a carnivore.

  14. There are no semi-vegetarians. You're either a vegetarian or not. So, by definition, no vegetarians can't eat any of the stuff listed(except for whey, vegetarians can eat that but not vegans)

  15. what's a "semi-vegetarian"?  Is that like just being "a little bit pregnant"?
