  1. some south indian dishes use sesame oil, but they just add it to their cooked rice when they mix in their daal-powders and pickles. chinese cooking uses sesame oil to cook their dishes but their dishes are mostly stir-fried. so maybe sesame oil is not heated or long. they deep fry their dimsums in it. it has a very distinctive flavour. and i will use sesame oil instead of peanut oil due to health reasons.

  2. Some regions of India use sesame oil. Sesame oil is most popular in Asia, including the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

    P.O. has  119 calories and 13.5 g of fat per 1 tbsp.

    S.O. has 120 calories and 14 g of fat

So, they are similar, but I like the flavour of sesame.

  3. For cooking vegetable you can use sesame oil but for deep fry I will prefer peanut oil.I think for Indian cooking peanut oil is better chioce.

  4. Sesame oil is high in unsaturated fat and hence can be safely used in cooking.

The peanut oil with predominately monounsaturated fat(49%) is neutral in taste. It contains some omega-6 fatty acids, but no omega-3s.I don't recomend it for cooking because methods of extraction damage its unsaturated fat content.Besides, like peanut butter, it may contain traces of aflatoxin.

  5. They have different qualities. Sesame oil is very good for your hair though!

For cooking I would recommend Olive oil..it's best..rich in nutrients and healthiness..
