  1. Shingles is a virus infection, so it should be treated with caution. Usual cleanliness & not touching the area at other times is wise. Shingles usually attacks about the rib-area, but it can 'hit' anywhere: the eyes are especially a problem area.

There's a 'new' vaccine out (expensive) that is proving helpful. See a good Internal Medicine MD.

  2. No, Shingles rash probably cannot spread on the infected person by touching.  But Shingles is contagious for others who never had Chicken Pox and who never have been vaccinated against Chicken Pox.

Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes Chicken Pox.  The virus stays dormant in nerve cells of people who have had Chicken Pox in the past.  And often due to decreased immunity, this virus reactivates, travels inside the nerve cells and causes the Shingles rash on the skin.

But the person with Shingles still has some immunity against this virus.  Which prevents the virus from spreading in other ways besides through the nerve cells.

  3. if the rashes turn into blisters and pop.... then you become contagous... idk if u can spread it onto other parts of the body
