  1. ongly female bettas can be put with cichlids

  2. Well yes there many fish you can put with them if you have a big enough tank. Also do not i repeat don't put more than one betta together or they will fight to the death. Here are some fish you can put with them: Tetras but not black skirts or serpaes, algae eaters, cories, danios, female gouramis, barbs except for tiger barbs, and rams. Add plenty of hiding places for the betta so it won't be harassed by other fish.

  3. well there good if you have a big enough decent tank with enough room in it for it to be happy and for it to grow its good with fish with fin and tail fins that arnt large becuase if they do the simence fighting fish will think its another fighting fish and itll fight it.

  4. Only one betta to a tank but they can be kept with other fish.  You need to have a tank that is 10 gallons or more and don't mix them with any other fish that has flowing fins or a body shape like a betta.

Some betta's are aggressive but you don't know that until you put them with other fish.  I wouldn't put one in with a lot of expensive fish until you know how it will react.  Also some will be peaceful for a while and then go nuts.  I had one in with other fish for a month just fine and then it killed the other fish one day.

  5. yes they can, dont let anyone tell you that "they are called fighting fish for a reson! they will kill every other fish in the tank!" cuz thats BS, they can be good community fish if they are placed in a large enough tank with the correct fish. nothing that is a fin nipper (tiger barbs, serpae tetras, etc...), as long as they are with other fish that dont harass it, are peaceful, and dont have wavy fins or resemble the betta in anyway, ur good. other fish to stay away from are: other bettas, no two males can be keptin the same tank, if u have multiple females in the same tank with him, you should be cotious but u should be ok, and dont place them with gouramis of any kind because they are very aggressive and of the same family (labrynth, aka air breathers). good luck

  6. ghost shrimp, cherry shrimp and other shrimp. i would put my betta wityh my crayfish because my crayfish is not agressive at all but my crayfish dosent like my other fish.

  7. One male Betta/Siamese Fighting Fish can be kept with any number of female Bettas, they will not fight.  I have 2 females and 1 male in a 16gal tank.  Females can be kept with any fish, they are quite docile.  Males can be kept with any non-aggressive fish that don't have long flowing fins (angelfish, for example, are no good).  They will mistake any long-finned fish for a rival male Betta and attack it, but they get along just fine with other fish with short fins.

  8. Female Betta's yes. Male bettas can too but be careful buy it then put it in the tank with the rest, see if it does well....some do some dont, but im pretty sure all females would do well males are a possibility depends on the personality, if its nipping and chasing the others he i guess wants to be territorial. but some males dont mind...it depends on the male you get. hoped i helped! Good Luck with your bettas!

PS i just got 1 today! and Bettas arent mean they are acually nice fish...they are just territorial. their a great fis to have!

  9. dont let anyone tell you they cant. they will only fight with other labrynth fish like gouramis, and that depends on the individual fish. they have personalities, just like you and me. (i currently have a betta and  an opaline gourami that get along extremely well and are both happy and healthy together.) So It largely depends on the individual male betta.

Female bettas on the other hand are great community fish. Females are completely peaceful and would never hurt another fish of its size. They may eat newborn fry if housed with livebearers, but beyond that they are perfect community fish.

keep them away from fin-nipping fish like barbs and some tetras, because they will eat your betta's fins (thus the name "fin-nipping" fish) and then your betta wont be able to swim and will die.

I would recommend getting female bettas instead of males. While they do have much shorter fins, they are just as brightly colored and can even change colors to camouflage like a chameleon, which can be really fun to watch. (only purples, blues, greens, and greys, but still, that is pretty freakin cool.)
