Can signals from modern day cellular (or is PCI right term?) phones be intercepted by amateur electronic....?

equipment? That is can my neighbor's lisen to my cell phone conversations with readily available equipment? What about cordless phone equipment. I am very leery of privacy invasions. Thanks for helping me.
