If you're asking if they can die from "natural causes", I'm sure that it occurs occasionally, just like birds can lay eggs that never hatch.

In the silk manufacturing process, I understand that the silkworm pupae are killed inside their cocoons.  Of course, i'm sure that some are allowed to develop to adulthood to create the next generation.
