Can simple K1 visas be processed sooner?

Our case is pretty simple, no kids, no previous marriages, we are both old enough (32) and my I-129f was very thorough and organized. Can this speed up the process or do i still expect to wait 4-6 months? I filed in Ca, USA, he's in London.

If you did a K1 can you tell me how long it took to receive NOA2, approved? Thank you!

  1. There is no way to speed up a K-1 but lots of ways to slow it down. It sounds like you have dotted all your i's and crossed all your t's so at least you won't be slowed down. For recent timelines on NOAs go to http://www.visajourney.com where members record their own experiences. You can search by country of fiance as well as local filing centre and it's a great source of free information and support.

You should both use this time to get ready for him arriving, he won't be able to work while he waits for his EAD so it's a good idea for both of you to save as much as you can to get through the few months of waiting. You can check out local places that he might like to go as it gets boring waiting when you can't work.

The wait seems like forever but you'll survive - I hope your nerves don't get too frayed. Good Luck

  2. We mailed ours in last October and it wasn't filed until February.  We just now got a date for him to meet with his embassy interviewer in 2 weeks.  We haven't had any slow ups or done any paperwork wrong and it's still taken much longer.  Good luck and be patient and I hope it works out faster for you.  I think we were simply unlucky in timing because alot of other people filed at the same time.
