I was skiing mogles for the first time today and I noticed my skiis bending a lot! Is this ok or should I try and avoid that?

  1. The stiffer the ski the easier it is to break skiing the bumps. But don't worry too much about it, the ski is designed to bend(they bend everytime you carve a turn). Unless you want to catch some air your skis have to bend to stay on the snow

  2. I've only seen it happen twice...and thankfully not to me.

Racing skis, which tend to be stiff, will have a higher chance of snapping than All-Mountain or Freestyle skis. These tend to have more flex. But the quality of materials used in racing skis is so high I doubt that it would ever happen.

The only things I've seen snap in a mogul field were one pair of rental skis (about 15 years ago) and my buddy's Elan's he destroyed about 10 years ago. He was a semi-regular tester for Elan and he was actually trying to snap the skis...he succeeded, but he had to land between two very close moguls and have his ski's center hit just right. It took him a few tries too...so don't worry, chances are your planks won't snap.

  3. Yes

  4. they can break in the street too

  5. Yes, they can break on moguls. So can you lol. The first time I went on moguls, one of my skis caught on one and I crashed into a tree and dislocated my shoulder. Embarrassing and painful. Be careful, of your skis and you.

  6. not unless you're a very agressive skier or very unlucky !

  7. Skis are built to take it....that's why they are made with camber.  If you need to worry, question if legs, arms, necks can be broken on "mogles".  lol
