I have a friend who slammed the driver's side door of a vehicle, really hard, one time. The owner of the vehicle claims that my friend's slamming of the door bent the door hinges and caused over $2,600 in damage to the vehicle. Is this even possible?

  1. If the damages happened> If he pulled the door open first then slammed it hard enough to bend the door support> The way cars are built today nothing suprises me>

  2. Slamming the door doesn't cause problems.  The hinges were probably bent when the door was open and the car was backed up against something causing the door to catch on an object and bend.  It sounds to me like someone is trying to get someone else to pay a bill for them.  I wouldn't buy it for a moment.

  3. door hinges ar desighned to take the impack of a car wreck. I can not see how they would bend closing a door. the piller stop would make the door stop befor it would bottom out on the hinge. if the hingeswhere not tight then they might be knocked out of adjustment. but it would in no way cost ove $150.00 to readjust.defanutly go to another body shop. get there opinon and estimat. if they agree then do not pay this guy one red cent. sounds like a scam. let him go to court. with the evidence that you would get from the second body shop then go to a therd. you will win. good luck

  4. Yes it is!

  5. I can be a spaz and have slammed many doors but I doubt you can cause 2600 dollars of damage even if you slam the door as hard as you can. Have them go to a different body shop of your choosing and get another estimate. The only way it could be 2600 is if they slamed the door open toward the fender and bent the door and fender, other than that, no way.

  6. no slamming the door will not cause the hinges to bend i think he is tring it on dont you good luck34
