Can sleeper sofas actually be comfortable?

Are there ones you can buy and sleep on that don't have bars in your back?

Yes, there are some that don't have the bars in your back.  My in-laws put a thin piece of wood-- like wafer board between it and the mattress.  Just remember to take it out when you do this or you will ruin the board if you try to fold it up with it in it.

Ours was pretty comfortable but it had a really thick mattress on it, plus an egg crate pad.  The head even folded up so we could watch tv!
