Can sleeping under a fan make you sick?

I have a sore throat, sneezing and congestion. My husband says it is because i sleep with a fan on my face. I say impossible..it is because of allergies or a virus. Who is right?

Yes if you are allergic to air born allergens, such as dust mites.

i hv no idea about making us sick bt it can make us hv body pain................i suffer body pain by sleepin juz under da fan

I would say sleeping under a fan would be no different than sleeping without one. Whats in the air is in the air. Sure you may throw a little dust in your face, but I highly doubt that would cause you to be congested.

Its not uncommon for people to sleep with a fan on, its pretty relaxing.

I stopped using a fan at night as I would also suffer the same symptoms as yourself plus neuralgia...I assumed it was the drying effect of sleeping in what is a potentially a draught...

when my husband turns the fan on at night i wake up with a sore throat and my allergies seem to be worse, he wakes up fine though.   But i do wake up feeling better without the fan. i guess it is all dependent on the individual, you should try sleeping without the fan for a week or so. see how you feel in the mornings
