Can small pieces of fruit ,float in an alcohol spiked punch or do they sink to the bottom of the container?

Depends on the piece of fruit and it's density. But hey look at it like this the pieces that sink to the bottom will absorb alcohol and be very tasty and alcoholic!

most fruits will float.  you will find that large thin slices will float well.
