  1. Yes you can.  h**l I use a broom handle to beat some guy with a $500 cue stick one night.  All you really need is a good, well chalked tip and knowing the right angle and position to hit the cue ball.  The rest is just for show.

  2. You sure could, but I don't think it would work so well for you if it was the other way around.

  3. Yes, it is legal by BCA/WPA standards:

    17. Cue Sticks

Cue Sticks used at WPA competitions should comply with the following

    during play at table:

Length of Cue: 40 inches [1.016 m] minimum / No Maximum

Weight of Cue: No minimum / 25 oz. [708.75 gm] maximum

Width of Tip: No minimum / 14mm maximum

The cue tip may not be of a material that can scratch or damage the addressed ball. The cue tip on any stick must be composed of a piece of specially processed leather or other fibrous or pliable material that extends the natural line of the shaft end of the cue and contacts the cue ball when the shot is executed..

The ferrule of the cue stick, if of a metal material, may not be more than 1 inch [2.54 cm] in length.

I've seen a couple players with a snooker cue at my local pool hall too.  They shoot pretty good.  And while it is possible to play with a broomstick handle (and many people can do so effectively), it wouldn't be legal in tournament play, but it's a great hustle tactic.

  4. I use a Viking with a normal tip for breaking and Masse.  I use a McDermott with a Snooker tip for everything else.  I get very good english with the Snooker tip and noone has ever complained about the tip in league play for nine ball or eight ball.  Good luck, and rack 'em up!

  5. You can but it is really meant for use with snooker balls which are smaller so the tip is smaller but you can make do.

  6. Yes you can.

  7. yes you can but would not recommend as the tip is smaller and balls are bigger which gives less control when making or leaving a shot
