Can solar radition from solar flares have killed or help kill the dinosars?

Maybe the ozone layer that helps sheilds the radition from the sun may not have been there or may have been as strong. So there might have been a big solar flare may have been to much radition for the dinosars.

Well if that was the case then the plants would have been the first to go don't' you think?  I would say help kill the dinosaurs.

It's possible, but pretty hard to find evidence to support the theory.

Any explanation of the extinction that happened 65 million years ago has to ex[plain how some species died out and some survived.  It is not as easy as trying to explain the extinction of just one species.  

For instance, 85% of all existing species died at the end of the Cretaceous, the (K-T) extinction, 65 million years ago.  This event was the second largest mass extinction event in geological history. Remarkably, most mammals, birds, turtles, crocodiles, lizards, snakes, and amphibians were primarily unaffected by the End-Cretaceous mass extinction.

The challange is to find an explination that addresses all of the winner and the losers.

solar radiation didn't help kill the dinosaur. there was once a canopy of water over the earth and that increased the air pressure on the earth (that is why the dinosaurs lungs were so small). when the canopy fell, their lungs were unable to breathe in enough oxygen. that is why they died

David D has it pretty 'rite'... most accepted theory's go along that line of though.

However,  your '?' has merit...  what ever the event was, it affected every living thing, even plants, and the water worlds animal life-forms.  

  

  The info about the rain canopy is legit too... some reptiles actually had incorporated there skeletal structures into there respiratory systems ... oxygen environments changed then, as well, for some reason.....

   Someday, i hope someone figures it all out and tells us what actually happened back then...  i bet the actuality is going to be a combination of theories, and some flash of insight that pulls all the loose ends together..!!
