I think I may be pregnant, and my husband is deploying in september/october, we get orders today-when he gets home.

Is there any way he can take his mid tour leave when I'm due, if I am pregnant?

  1. I don't believe that qualifies for emergency leave, sorry.

  2. He probably won't be able to unless you get lucky and his leave is at that time. Even still something could change and he wouldn't be able to leave.

Good luck and congrats on your possible pregnancy.

  3. Sometimes the Red Cross can arrange that.

  4. It depends on when his mid tour will be.  It might work around it...but I would not count on it.  Good Luck with the pregnancy!!!

  5. He can schedule a window of time for when you are due - once leave is set it's difficult to make adjustments so if you deliver early or late you may be out of luck.  In my opinion (I'm in the Army with four kids) it would be better for him to try and schedule his leave for after the baby is born - the window for this is far better than for the birth and he will get to spend some quality time with you and your child - just my two cents.  Have him start working this issue with the chain of command as soon as you confirm you are pregnant and get a due date set.  Good luck to you both.

  6. I've heard of units working with the soldier to let them come home in time for the child birth IF it is their first child.

  7. No.  He might be able to swing getting time when you give birth, but he will not be able to get time specifically because you are giving birth.

  8. When my husband was in Iraq last year they wouldn't let someone return home for the birth of a child. His best bet would be to try and get R & R around the time you are due or shortly after.  Normally the guys get 15 days leave and then have to return to Iraq. However a friend of ours was having their first child while her husband was in Iraq and the Dr. induced her labor at 39 weeks so her husband could be there while he was on r & r. Good luck.

  9. It's really up to his command if he'll be able to come back for the birth.  However, commanders try their best to take care of their soldiers.  Don't bet on it, but do keep your fingers crossed.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and sorry to hear your husband is getting deployed.

Take care and try not to worry too much.  You'll be surprised how stress can affect your unborn baby.

  10. He might be able to get to. When my husband deployed they TRIED to get people home around important things (like births, graduations, etc....my husband managed to get to come home for his bday) But you have to remember that it might not happen. Since my husband has been in the army I have found that it's best to hope for the best but expect the worst. That way if he can't be home when I wanted I'm not as disappointed but if he is home then I'm thrilled.

Anyway though I hope your husband gets to be home when your baby is born! Good luck!

  11. When you go into labor call Red Cross. They will verify you are at the hospital and contact your husbands Commander. The Commander can decide if and when he can go home, and it will be at his own cost. 75% of the time soldiers can go home for a maximum of 12 days. He probably wont make it back in time to see the baby be born, but he'll get there as soon as he can. Im going through the same thing right now so I know how you feel! Its definately a rough time but if you need someone to talk to who knows exactly what you are going through, let me know. ... 20 weeks pregnant and all alone!!! =( The life of an Army Wife.. HOOAH! LOL.

  12. no guarantees that he will get Mid tour leave, nor can it be guaranteed he will get it when he wants it.  'generally speaking: a normal birth is not a valid reason to be sent home.

  13. He probably won't be able to do that.  just one of the many sacrifices of being in the military.  Sorry and good luck with your pregnancy.

  14. there are no guarantees
