Can sombody briefly explain what the Lisbon Treaty is please?

From what I have gathered, because it is a massive document, the Lisbon Treaty is a treaty among all European countries to co-exist as one country with open borders, a common currency (the Euro) and where the sovereignty of each European country is surrendered. In addition, the peoples of Europe have no direct choice on who is elected president of Europe because that will be chosen by the leading politicians of each European country. It is the new Constitution of Europe. It is over 2,000 pages long. You have to be a legal expert to understand it.

    In my opinion, that is disaster brewing. I feel that the Irish did well by rejecting that treaty. Unlike England which is now in bed with the rest of Europe. Bye, bye England.
