  1. My husband is black and I am white.  We adopted our son a year and a half ago through American Adoptions- he is mixed race too (caucasian and African American).  We only waited about three weeks from the time we activated with American Adoptions (the activation process took several months to complete the paperwork and homestudy).  We had him in our arms about 2 weeks after we got the call.  At that time, there was a huge demand for couples who wanted to adopt mixed race babies and there still is, but more and more people are opening up to this idea, so at least through American Adoptions now there are more couples waiting then there ever was before.  I still think they advertise their wait time as less than 9 months for a mixed race baby.  The cost was about 20,000 (but the adoption tax credit- in the US- gave us 10,000 back.  Well worth the price and the wait!

EDIT- I just noticed that you are from the UK- American Adoptions does adoptions with people from other countries as well, but of course, the baby would be born somewhere in the US.  If you're interested, it's a great agency to work with.  americanadoptions.com

  2. so you are not interested in surrogacy anymore? is adoption illegal in the UK also?, i am confused, were you lying to me about everything, i agreed to become your surrogate, and have been preparing my family, waiting for paperwork in the mail, why would you put this question on here if we were making arrangements,i shared my life with you what kind of scam are you pulling just messing with peoples hearts and emotions, i do not understand i was trying to help you , and i told my children and everything, you have really hurt me, oh how did it go at the hospital, is your cancer back, you said it did not go well yet before finding out all the info you are trying to adopt now, what is going on here, you are a very cruel person

  3. I know of a single white woman who has a two year old whit and balc mixed baby. I say take what you can do not be picky. My uncle is black my auntie is mixed they adopted a hwite kid then when they had a child of their own she came out light skinned bloned hair grey eyes. people do stare bu who really cares.

  4. Adopting a bi-racial (this is the proper term!) baby is totally possible.  ANY private agency can help you.  If you already have a homestudy (you should!), and are approved, then make a profile, if you don't already have one.

Look online at other adoptive parents profiles to get an idea of what it should look like.  You can go to Parent Profiles, for example.

Send your profile out to lots of domestic (within the U.S. if that is where you live) agencies, along with a letter stating that you wish to parent a bi-racial baby.  Unless you are highly unusual, you will get calls!  You need to expect to pay private adoption agency fees of $15,000 - $28,000.

    I like these agencies:

PACT An Adoption Alliance (Oakland, CA)

    Angel Adoptions (Houston, TX)

Adoptions from the Heart (Wynnewood, PA)

    Good luck!

  5. you can get mixed race children easily, but babies are harder.  I would become a foster parent for babies in your area.  If they are going to terminate the parents rights then you could adopt the child.

  6. I am not sure which agencies you are speaking to, I adopted all my children and fostered numerous children.  Many of them were of mixed race, Caucasian / Hispanic, Hispanic /black and Caucasian /black.  Many of the foster children were adopted by Caucasians, a few from mixed couples.

  7. I've heard of a lot of mixed race babies being available for adoption.  One thing you might consider, though, to expand your possibilities is to find a "waiting child".

To do a search, go to

    http://www.adoptuskids.org/Child/ChildSe...

I did a search just based on mixed race & came up with 13 results.

    I hope this helps!
