Can some breeds of spiders stay alive after having babies?

  1. Most species of spiders live after making egg cases. (There are always exceptions, ex: Garden spiders, Argiope sp.) Spiders, like Black widows can live up to 3 yrs. in captivity and make egg cases every 6-8 weeks or so. Female tarantulas are capable of lifespans of 25 yrs. +.

    So, yes, most stay alive.  


  2. They sure can, they need to so they can protect the eggs. Generally speaking it's the male that dies not the mother or hatchlings

  3.   I think so once i saw a spider in the kitchen then i swatted it and these tiny black things splattered everywhere they were BABY SPIDERS the babies were alive.
