  1. I wish my advice could be helpful. And here is a good resource.Check it up.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/or...

  2. In order to have insurance on an item, you have to have an insurable interest.  Since the car does not belong to the son, he has no insurable interest in the vehicle.  Hence, the answer to your question is, no, the son may not take out an insurance policy on a car for which he has no ownership.

  3. In the UK Insurance companies don't like it. They can only go on your word anyway as they don't ask to see the log book. However if you have a claim they will find out then. A few years ago I had a car stolen and they wanted to know why my car was insured in my wife's name. The reason was because A. My broker suggested it and B. She had more NCB so she insured my expensive car and I insured her cheaper car, although we were both named drivers. You have to be sure of the rules & law here as it could jeapordise any future claim. Maybe an insurance expert will tell us the definitive answer.

  4. In texas with Farmers as long as the father is listed as a driver then yes the son can get insurance on it.  The dad doesnt have to even be listed as a driver we can add him as registered owner.
