  1. A LOOK IT UP

  2. Well it will take you about 15 minute to figure out how all the pieces move by reading the sites that others have provided for you.

    Strategy and tactics will take you a life time to learn.  This is a deep thinkers game.  The further out your can anticipate your opponents moves the better you will be.  Playing better players will help yo get better even if you do get your behind handed to you.

    For your first game be patient and look at each piece on the board and envision in your mind where each one could go on the next move.  It's not always about capturing your opponents pieces, unless it's the King (by that I mean trap and threaten the King, which would be mate).  If you get the chance to capture one of you opponents pieces be aware of a trap.  They may have made a mistake or it was a calculated sacrifice.

    Enjoy and don't get frustrated.  It may take many games before you win one, but when you do your going to want to do a victory dance.

  4. the object is to kill the king. there are 6 different game pieces in total;

    PAWN=can only move to the front 1 space unless it is eating a piece.

    QUEEN=can move verticaly & horizontaly as many spaces as u want

    KING=yust like the queen but only 1 space at a time

    KNIGHT=moves in the shape of an L 2 spaces for the long part & 1 space for the short part

  6. Learn the rules of the game. Have someone teach you over the board.

    Make sure you learn  the en passant rule.

    After you have learned the rules, apply these principles to specific situations:

    1. Develop your pieces

    2. Seek to control the center of the board

    3. Protect your king---almost always by early castling
