Can some one give me ideas on what to write about

i am a writer and i have the urge to write something but every time i sit down to try to write i freeze because i don't have any ideas

don't limit yourself.

how about trying something new?

in writing, there really are no rules. try fantasy, and push yourself to the limit.

a writer does two things; he/she writes, and he/she reads.

so read loads of books for ideas [but don't hijack anything] and experiment. write down all your dreams too.

to get your brain flowing, try watching lots of movies, specially in the genre you write in.

freestyle's great too. just write. it doesn't even have to make sense.

ex:

'my neighbor's mowing his lawn. i can't consentrate. wow, he really needs to put on a shirt. gross. the birds living in my chimney are really annoying. the pizza's taking forever..."

see? it's actually pretty fun. i do it all the time haha.

It's simple really, Just join an online writing group that is designed to deal with this very subject.

This Yahoo group runs a monthly contest were you write a short story or poem after seeing an image to stimulate your imagination. The works are critiqued and voted on every month so you get the feedback you need to build it into something very special, and you have a real chance at recognition with a 1st, 2nd, or honorable mention in each category. Check them out at their Yahoo networking group below, or the second link that takes you to the writer's forum where the work gets done.

Try reading a book in the genre you like to write.  Watch a documentary. Go out and people watch and observe them.  Watch what they wear, what they do, how they walk, the mannerism, how one interact with another.

Write freestyle, write what ever comes to mind and keep writing until you can think of anything else.
