Can some one help me find a sample dyslexia (child) test with explanations?

I don't think there is a "test" per say. I'm dyslexic and it has some very typical behaviors.

First you really can check for dyslexia until the child is reading paragraph stage. One of the major signs of dyslexia is that you read the lines in the wrong order. You may read the same line over and over or read the fourth line then the second line and followed by the third line then jump back to the first line. Or you may read a few words or letters from the line above or below the line being read. Usually the first sign is that a child or person is unable to read  a sentence or group of sentences if they appear above each other but can read the same sentence or group of sentences if they have a them on a double or triple spaced page.

Second, they may write words misspelled the same way or a similar way each time. The becomes hte often. The first letter of a word often becomes the second. I love spell check.

Third you may reverse letters. This is not normally a concern until a child is at least 8-10 years old. Writing letters backwards before then is considered very normal. It's just part of the normal learning process. My father cannot tell the difference if you write a capital N the correct way or reverse it. He often writes his letters backwards. I haven't since I was a child but I cannot always tell if a letter is backwards or not when seen.

Finally, dyslexia is normally inherited. If either of the child's parents have it, then it's good to watch for it. I inherited it from my father. So did one of my brothers. The other 4 brothers do not have dyslexia.

The good thing is that they watch for it today in schools. They don't call you stupid or slow like they did when I was in school. They have lots of ways of helping you train your brain to function better. I heard about it when I was in high school and researched it on my own. Found ways to make myself function. I have two college degrees and work in accounting. So it's not the end of the world if you have it.

The top link has 37 common signs & symptoms of Dyslexia, which we used on our daughter. She met most of the criteria, I was diagnosed as having dyslexia when she formally diagnosed via a recognized specialist.
