  1. you won't be able to tell if they are males or females till their a little older and a good size.

if you have older and good sized tortoises, you can tell a male cause their under shell is concave - dipped inwards

this is beacuse turtles have s*x doggie style - the males have to climb on top of the females. their shells dip inwards, so that it kinda... hooks onto the girls shell, so he doesn't slide off all the time. cause otherwise it would be embarassing for him.

  2. it is hard to tell the s*x of small tortoises but the best way is to look at the tail of your tortoises, they females is short and stumpy, the males is much longer and thinner and they tend to keep it to one side as they walk, here is some pictures so you can see the difference http://www.russiantortoise.net/male_fema...  the fact you have two tortoises that one is pushing the other around might possibly be you have two males if you do you will have to separate them as when they get older they will fight for any females and for territory, you can't keep two males together as they are very territorial and will fight often to the death, but a male and two females is ok the females do not really fight. here is a site that might help you with their care     http://www.sulcata-station.org/index.htm...   best of luck with your tortoises honey

  3. Determining the s*x of your turtle or tortoise is important to know even for those not intending to breed their animals. A habitat that would be considered acceptable for two females may not be large enough for a pair and a habitat large enough for a pair may not be large enough for two males.

The sexual makeup of  groups of animals also has a direct relation to the amount of stress through aggression or mating attempts being experienced by some of the members of the group regardless of habitat size. This stress can have an impact on the overall health of an animal or group as a whole.

Here is the website where I copied this Info from. It is SPECIFICALLY for sexing turtles and tortoises.
