  1. The Liberty sim is a Pay Monthly sim that's meant to offer some of the advantages of a contract sim, without actually tying you into a fixed contract (in other words, you just pay for it on a month by month basis, and can cancel it at any time).

As with a contract phone, the Liberty sim is subject to a credit check, so you can't get one if you have a bad credit history.

The sim itself is free but you have to sign up to one of several monthly tariffs:

Virgin £15 Text - costs £15.00 a month, gives you 150 minutes and 1000 texts

Virgin £15 Talk - costs £15.00 a month, gives you 300 minutes and 300 texts

Virgin £20 Text - costs £20.00 a month, gives you 300 minutes and 2000 texts

Virgin £20 Talk - costs £20.00 a month, gives you 450 minutes and 450 texts

Virgin £25 Talk - costs £25.00 a month, gives you 600 minutes and 600 texts

Virgin £30 Talk - costs £30.00 a month, gives you 750 minutes and 750 texts

The inclusive minutes can be used for calls to any UK landline or mobile (any network), and the inclusive texts can be used to text any mobile network. Any additional minutes or texts are charged at a standard tariff (per minute or per text) which is in addition to your fixed monthly fee. Any international calls, and things like 0870 numbers and premium rate numbers, are also charged at this standard tariff.

All prices are listed on the Virgin website.

If you want to use a Virgin SIM (any type) with your O2 phone, you'll need to get the phone unlocked first.
