  1. If you can shop at Publix, they usually have a whole vegetarian section, which is great!

I recommend Morning Star products, Boca Burgers, and vegetable broth based soups. You can usually find these in about any store, and they're very easy to make. You need to make sure you eat beans (any kind) every other day to keep your protein intake up.

As for school lunch, that could be a little bit harder, but you just have to get the hang of it. I've found bringing potato, and cucumber salads from home are good because they can hold up until lunchtime. You may need to purchase vitamins to take daily.

Good Luck & I hope this helped!!

  2. eat a lot of pasta.  thats easy and microwavable.  also patatos, soups (also microwavable), veggies and fruits.  its not that hard.  just do the same thing you have been without the meat

  3. Vegetarian is spelled with an a not an o and it is vegetarian not vegetation.  Why are you pinning yourself down to a certain date to start? Just do it.  It isn't hard.  There are so many things that vegetarians can eat.  Beans and rice, vegetarian chili, peanut butter and jelly, salads, fruits and vegetables, yogurt, pizza, or pasta.

  4. for school lucnhes - burritos, PB&J, veggie stix, fruit, nuts, the Morningstar stuff is o.k. unless you do not want eggs, then you should check lable.  you can also make veggie stir fry w/tofu, & rice for dinner the night b4 & take left-over for lunch.  you should do a bit of research on "Transisitioning " your diet safely- making sure you know how to combine foods like beans/legumes & grains for complete protiens.  check out "Whole Foods" online for meal suggestions and recipes.  "Amy's" frozen food are pretty good.  take your time educate yourself, and do it right so you do not regret making the change.  find local farmer's market too, it will be a good resource for more than just shopping.  you CAN do this and good for you for trying!!!!  :)

  5. Canned beans, whole grain bread and cereal, soy milk, soy burgers, lots of fruits and veggies, tofu, Barilla multigrain pasta, peanut butter, nuts just to list a few.  Check in the frozen section of the store for Morning Star and Boca products.  All are vegetarian and very good.

  6. You are becoming vegetation?  What kind? a tree or a bush or grass...

  7. Try Morningstar products. They are good to use when you're making the transition because they are a lot like regular foods only they are vegetarian. They make microwavable fake chicken, bacon, sausage, burgers, hot dogs, etc. Boca Burgers are good too. Look in the freezer section of your grocery store and they should have a good variety of stuff.

For lunches, you can always just stick to salads or cheese sandwiches, or peanut butter and jelly. Yogurt and fruit or cheese and crackers are good options too.

If your mom isn't afraid of it, get some firm tofu. You can sauté it in a pan with some sesame oil until it becomes very firm, add some vegetables and make a stir fry out of it. Tofu is a useful substitute for many things. You can crumble it up and use it in lasagna or soups and  salads.

Beans are also good protein substitutes. You can use kidney beans, black beans, white beans or chick peas. My family used to have tacos once a week and instead of eating ground beef, I would mix white rice with black beans and then add taco seasoning...it was delicious. Eggs are also a good protein source for vegetarians.

I recommend getting a good vegetarian cookbook. Try a few of the recipes to see what you like and what you don't like.

  8. Well, there is quite a bit you can do! First, are you becoming just a 'vegetarian' or a 'vegan' as well?

Vegan diets are, for me and my lifestyle, a bit too difficult to adhere to. As far as not eating meat, no problem! (Also, you can then still eat eggs, cheese, milk occasionally without so much fuss!)

If you are packing lunch for school, try the many varieties of "Morning Star Farms" vegetarian meals. They are in the freezer section of your grocery store-usually by the breakfast stuff. They have veggie burgers, corn dogs, chicken patties, etc etc etc!!!!! and they are all easy to make/microwave! (There are a ton of choices, just don't expect them to ever taste just like the real thing! I prefer the veggie sausages or bacon strips to the real thing because I truly like the taste better).

Then you can always opt for veggie soups.. just make sure the labels say 'vegetarian'..There are also easy great things like hummus (found by the cheeses) for dipping veggies or crackers, celery and peanut butter, heck, Peanut butter and anything! (apples, jelly, carrots, etc)..

Really, if you are vegetarian only (not vegan) you can pretty much eat everything except meat... so just make sure you check labels!
