I wish to see the exact same subject, (distance, content etc.) taken from the exact same place, taken with the 17mm and 18mm lenses. I just want to see the difference between the two. I want a wide angle to photograph small rooms, like bathrooms.

Thanks if you can help.

  1. I can't actually show you the difference but the difference will be very little. If you are looking for a wide angle lens to photograph small rooms then you will probably need a wider lens than either of those. If you are using a cropped sensor DSLR like a Canon Rebel series, 30D, 40D or a Nikon D40 through D300 then what you need is a 10-22mm (Canon) or 12-24mm (Nikon) wide angle lens. These lenses were designed for the cropped or smaller sensors on most digital SLR's. They will give you about the same field of view as the 17-40mm will on a 35mm or full frame digital SLR will. The same will apply for other brands of cameras. You need to find a lens with a range of 10-24mm for your camera.
