  1. Have a look at a couple of computer magazines (Computer Shopper, PC Pro, Computer Active) for ideas on what the best laptop is.  Generally so long as you go for a major brand, such as Dell, HP, Tosh, you can't go far wrong.

Processor selection will depend on what you want the laptop for...

If you want something small and light with good battery life for internet surfing and not much else, then look at the new Intel Atom processor based machines (such as the Asus EEE PC 1000H) - lovely little machine.

If you want something more pokey, for graphics or games, then you need a more powerful processor (Centrino) but that will drop battery life considerably.

But it's bank holiday weekend, so if you've got the cash now, then take advantage of one of the loads of bank holiday deals on the computer websites like Ebuyer, Pixmania, etc.

    :-)

  2. Well basiclly, intel core 2 duo is the newest processor out of them. Then pentium and the oldest is Celeron.

It would be better to get core2duo if you using vista. It basicly is better because it has 2 cores and can handle multiple tasks at once.

You should check this site http://www.intel.com/consumer/learn/proc...

It has all the different processors and a few benchmarks on how it affects battery life and etc.

  3. The main thing to look for is the speed. 1.2ghz, 1.4ghz and so on...the higher the number the faster they are. Most new laptops should come with a decent processor.

For £400 just shop around to find the best deal. There is no laptop that is the best - it all depends on what you are looking for
