  1. If too much water is spritzed on the shell, it will soak through and kill the baby, the baby will drown. All you need to do is put a soaked sponge, wet rag, little container of water in the incubator (even if home made) and it will keep the humidity up.

  2. it's better to either put in a wet sponge or pan of water, the surface area of the water will define the amount of humidity, I would recommend you buy a hygrometer, to measure the amount of humidity. Also if you put a pan in, how deep it is has no play in the humidity, it's all about surface area. If the humidity is to low increase the surface area if it's too high decrease. You can just continue to spay the eggs I don't think it will hurt it but that's never something I've tried. If you do continue to spray try to heat the water to about 100 degrees F. to make sure the internal egg temperature does change greatly. Also remember many temps in incubators go up and down, the internal egg temp is about the average temp between the fluctuations. But if the temp gets to 105 the eggs are as good as gone.

    Good luck!!

  3. It will not fo any harm for water fowl eggs at all, it is a good thing, but stop doing it for the last five days.

But, as Shera M and Jimmy G say, a sponge or a dish are the normal, altho` I always spray my waterfowl eggs as well as the dishes of water.

    Happy hatching
